Chief Anthony Joe Bridge was washed away in the atmospheric river of Nov 2021 cutting off access to the residents. CEC was contracted to supply and install 30m deep pile foundations, fabricate and install steel pile caps, modify the one existing concrete abutment, form and pour two new concrete abutments, and assemble and install a 55m Acrow bridge structure in a semi secluded location without cell service.
CEC worked with All North Engineering to generate a launch plan to prebuild the full structure on the South abutment ramp utilizing roller beds and fabricated rocker assemblies with double roller beds at the South pier. The bridge was successfully launched utilizing a 35ton excavator to push, a 300ton Liebherr All Terrain Crane to ‘catch’ as it was pushed across the river, and finally a tandem lift with the 110ton Lattice Crawler Crane to set in final position. The South access to this site required the removal of the undercarriage of the crawler crane due to size/weight and the seasonal road restrictions.
