This position reports to the Crane and Rigging Supervisor.
Responsibilities for this position will include (but not limited to):
- Operate cranes and hoists safely and as per manufacturers specifications
- Inspect equipment and machinery and ensure machinery inspections is kept up to date via electronic reporting
- Ensure machinery is fully operational and free of damage
- Ensure any damage or malfunction is recorded and reported to Supervisor on duty. Also via electronic reporting
- Keep and update maintenance and activity log
- Carry out basic maintenance to equipment as per manufacturer’s specifications
- Set up and operate equipment in accordance with manufacturers recommendations
- Ensure adequate communications between operations between operator and ground crew, which may include radio or hand signals
- Ensure the crane is being operated within the guidelines of the operator’s manual and manufacturer’s specifications
- Responsible for completing any and all company related documentation including work orders, inspections, timecards and required safety docs via electronic reporting
- Follow Worksafe, OH&S, and CEC safety guidelines and protocols at all times
- Wear appropriate dress code as per CEC policy
Required qualifications for this position are:
- Maintain relative provincial, federal, and site specific certification requirements. Ie: Red Seal, apprenticeship, Level A, Level B
- Previous experience as a crane operator or a similar role
- Ensure that competencies are completed on each piece of equipment prior to operating alone. Competencies are required for all equipment , ie: All Terrain, Boom Truck, Crawler, Carry Deck, Rough Terrain, etc.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs, comfortable working at heights, rotating shifts, travel as needed on a project basis
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Must be able to pass pre-employment, post-incident and site-access Drug and Alcohol testing
- Hold or obtain industry standard safety certificates: H2S, WHIMIS, CSTS, Fall Arrest, First Aid, Class 1 or minimum Class 3 DL
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- High School diploma preferred
- Valid Class 1 commercial drivers license is preferred, consideration given to Commercial Class 3 with air brake endorsement
