Get ready to Jack ‘n’ Roll
A jack and roll is a specialized type of equipment moving procedure that is necessary for situations in which the limits and margins are too narrow to have other equipment in the reachable vicinity. A common example of this would be replacing industrial energy transformers in substations or underground mines. In many of these situations, the limits of approach or the small environment make it impossible to use a crane to remove the transformer. This is when a jack and roll is the perfect solution—CEC would come in, jack the unit up onto a track or slide that we’ve built, and use specialized rigging to move the unit out of the tight space until it is in an open location accessible by a crane. Whether the issue is overhead obstructions, low headroom, energized utilities in close proximity, or simply that the unit is out of radius of a crane, a jack and roll is the solution.
