Rough Terrain Cranes
In the demanding world of heavy construction and industrial work with less developed or spread-out sites, rough terrain cranes shine as heavy-duty beasts that can quickly move around with ease on any site! Rough terrain cranes stand out on site with their large tires, 4- or 6-wheel drive systems and multiple steering modes to handle almost anything a site can throw at them.
Rough terrain or “RT Cranes” range in size from as small as a 15t capacity unit to a staggering 165t capacity! These cranes have the same features you would see on the larger on-road all-terrain cranes, like full power boom or pinning boom sections capable of reaching heights from 125ft to over 200ft with the main boom. They also feature swing-away jibs that can extend the reach for lighter, higher lifts. Smaller rough terrain cranes (up to 100t capacity) can arrive on site quickly and usually can be set up ready to lift in minutes, whereas the larger ones will need to install a few additions like counterweight and outrigger boxes before getting to work.
CEC’s Rough terrain cranes are equipped with advanced control systems that enhance precision and safety during operation. These systems incorporate features such as load moment indicators (LMI), which provide real-time feedback on load capacity and stability, helping operators make informed decisions to prevent overloading and ensure safe lifting operations.
The versatility of rough terrain cranes extends beyond terrain challenges; rough terrain cranes excel in various construction applications. Whether it’s erecting steel structures in remote locations, handling heavy materials in tight spaces, or assisting in infrastructure projects in urban settings, these cranes have been proven to be invaluable. Their ability to manoeuvre through narrow paths and operate with a smaller footprint in confined spaces also makes them ideal for in-town construction projects where space is at a premium.
