Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Welder to join our production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing high-quality production welding on structural steel, heavy equipment components, and fabricated assemblies while meeting productivity, quality, and safety standards. This role requires strong welding skills, the ability to read and interpret drawings, and current CWB FCAW certification in all positions.
The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining exceptional workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform production welding using the Flux-Core Arc Welding (FCAW) process.
- Execute welds in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead) in accordance with CWB standards and company quality requirements.
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, welding symbols, and work instructions.
- Assemble and weld structural steel, fabricated components, and production assemblies.
- Verify dimensions and tolerances using measuring instruments and gauges.
- Ensure all welds meet quality standards and inspection requirements.
- Perform fit-up, tack welding, grinding, gouging, and finishing as required.
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspection of welding equipment and tools.
- Work collaboratively with welders, fabricators and quality control personnel.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
- Meet established production schedules while maintaining quality expectations.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Current CWB FCAW Certification – All Positions.
- Minimum 5 years of welding experience in a production, manufacturing, heavy equipment, fabrication, or structural steel environment.
- Proven ability to weld carbon steel in all positions.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding specifications.
- Strong understanding of welding procedures, metallurgy, and fabrication processes.
- Experience using overhead cranes and material handling equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing repetitive tasks while standing for extended periods.
Preferred
- Experience welding structural steel and heavy equipment components.
- Experience working in the crane, construction, industrial manufacturing, or resource sectors.
- Additional welding process experience (SMAW) considered an asset.
- Forklift and overhead crane certification.
- Fall protection, aerial work platform, or other industrial safety certifications.
