Clapperton Creek Bridge

The Challenge

This bridge was a project for KLL Construction and the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure just north of Merritt, BC. We helped KLL replace the bridge on Mill Creek Road with a precast concrete stringer bridge on steel pipe foundations and cast-in-place abutments.

The Solution

For the pile driving for this project, we fabricated our leads and designed and fabricated our drop hammer as well! The drop hammer is truly a work of art as we designed it to have a two-part configuration which can be used as a 6,450lb hammer or a 12,700lb hammer. The hammer cushion is made out of Purple Heart hardwood intricately pieced together like a jigsaw puzzle. For this job, we installed the pipe piles, formed the abutments, erected and installed the girders and helped with all the finishing touches to get this new bridge up and running.
