Details: During the Adams Lake fire, CEC swiftly responded to an emergency rehabilitation project on the Holding Bridge, which was critical to restoring access for the local sawmill and community. Within 24 hours, the team managed to source the required materials from the Lower Mainland and mobilized to the site. They designed and installed steel falsework to support the existing timber piles, which support the concrete box girders, and placed temporary screw piles along with temporary steel girders. Using four 100-ton jacks and a temporary pile cap, the crew stabilized the structure. Remedial efforts involved drop-hammer pile driving of 24” piles on both sides of the bridge and the installation of permanent steel caps. Additionally, riprap and embankment work were completed to ensure the channel remained open and accessible throughout the project.
