Details: CEC was the prime contractor on this forestry bridge replacement for the Ministry of Forests. A local job to CEC’s home base of Kamloops, this project was an easy commute for our local crew. This project was a design, supply and install job consisting of a steel superstructure with 3 girders, precast concrete pile caps, and precast deck panels. The superstructure was assembled, including diaphragm, plan bracing, and one bolted splice, on the ground, then it was rigged up to the cranes for a tandem lift in order to shift the structure closer to the creek. The 250-ton AT was then rigged up to the structure to hoist it onto the pile caps with a single pick lift. The bridge was installed on a pipe pile foundation with three piles at each abutment. This bridge was designed on a new alignment, so the project also consisted of new road approaches and the decommissioning of the existing road.
